Veelain - música para uma falsa tristeza

There is new music by Veelain to help us accept the end of summer. After the first album “A Portrait of a Real Villain,” we heard the single “RÉVOLTE,” several appearances on compilations—such as Monster Jinx's ROXO, but also MiMi Records' most recent Unsound Sounds Of Porto Vol.1—and the more experimental “AFTER A BUTTERFLY DIES,” a 3-act EP that opened the door to new sounds from the artist.
This journey has shown a very unique metamorphosis for Veelain, a member of Monster Jinx since 2021, who has revealed several very unique creative facets: disparate, unmatched, and with a distinct identity.

“Música para uma falsa tristeza” (Music for a false sadness) is the new work that brings together some of the producer's most recent sonic explorations. The beatmaker vein continues to pulse, but what pumps the blood of this album are the synthesizers, glacial textures, and misty harmonies. This is a work that traverses the fields of IDM, with the very important goal of wandering aimlessly through feelings of solitude and melancholy. Veelain accepts all his contradictions and deliberately chooses to make music that is as bucolic as it is brutalist. If Álvaro de Campos and Alberto Caeiro were an electronic duo, they would probably make exactly this kind of compilation. If all this still seems too ethereal a description for such distinctive music, we can say that there are connections to the most striking releases on Warp via Boards of Canada or Mira Calix, but there are also vibrations (or reverberations) of Oneohtrix Point Never and Actress.

It is a compilation of tracks unsuitable for those who hate the cold. However, now that we are starting to cool down, it is time to embrace emotions that call for warmth.
